Bokaro Steel City has emerged as Educational Hub in the field of school education. Lots of students are attracted to study in the schools of Bokaro Steel City for its scholastic atmosphere. The performance of the students of the schools has been outstanding at various levels – IITs, IIMs, CBSE, Medical, etc every year. Students of Bokaro have even topped at IIT and won gold medal for the nation at the Maths Olympiad. However, there is no scope for higher education in this steel city as well as in the state of Jharkhand. So, most of the students have to migrate to other states for higher education. In this background, for propagating professional education, the formation of a Trust was envisaged. After a lot of deliberations, a Trust named Bokaro Ispat Educational Trust was formed with ED (P & A), SAIL / BSL as a Chief Trustee in his ex-officio capacity.
CISF Bokaro Unit established an Industrial Training Institute in August 1994 to enable wards of CISF personnel to get opportunity for technical education. It was built and managed under Central Welfare Fund. Rs. 84/- Lacs was spent towards the purchase of equipments and payment of staff. The centre was affiliated with the National Council of Educational Training with DGET vide their letter no. DGET/12(1)/1/96/TC Dt. 07-Aug-1996 for which the order was issued by Director of Employment & Training, Patna, Bihar vide their letter no. NIJI SANSTHAN-05/95/1753 Dt. 17-10-96.
